Cruelty Free Makeup Brands

Hey guys.

So, lately I have been making a real effort to go cruelty free in terms of makeup ( Yes I have shown products that aren’t cruelty free in blog posts before – but if I haven’t already, aim to use them all up but won’t re-purchase.) . It all started because I saw a video months ago on Facebook where a woman ( Cant remember exactly where) publicly strapped herself in a chair and volunteered to endure the torture the animals go through during makeup testing – to prove a point to the public. I will not go into further details or link it as it was very graphic and a bit disturbing – but if you’ve seen it then you know what i’m referring to.

I’d never put much thought into which brands are cruelty free and which aren’t – I just brought whatever took my fancy when browsing through the makeup iles. However I will never forget that Facebook video and it really did shock me into changing my ways and putting more thought into which brands I buy from.

Sometimes its hard to know which products are cruelty free or not though, so heres a list of the drugstore and high end cruelty free products. ( I tried to be accurate, but if any of the info is wrong or I missed a brand out – feel free to let me know in the comments! )

My Current Skincare Routine

Hey guys.

So lately, ive really been getting into having a good, consistent skincare routine. I know ive always had a thing about having clear, youthful looking skin. However, as soon as I turned 20 I realised I needed to be more consistent with my routine if i wanted clear, fresh skin that id be greatful of 15 years down the line.

As my skin doesnt tend to need super intense products to stay clear, I like to stick with the brand “Simple.” – as its gentle on young skin, but still does the job. You can find this on the boots and superdrug website, and in stores.

I like to use the Simple Refreshing Facial Wash every day. Ill put a tiny pea shaped amount onto my fingers, then gently massage it into my face – before washing it off after a few minutes. This just does a lovely job of cleaning my face and removing any dirt/makeup from my pores. However, twice a week I like to swap this with the Simple Exfoliating face wash, to keep my skin free of any dead skin, and balance the oils in my face preventing spots.

Next, I like to exfoliate my lips using the LUSH. Honey lip scrub. usually do this twice a week, as the cold winter air makes my lips prone to getting all dry and sore. Not only does it taste really good; but it also helps to remove any dead skin cleaving my lips feeling brand new!

After, I like to use 2 different moisturisers for my face daily. I use the Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser for my face, as it prevents my skin from drying out, and leaves it feeling so soft and nourished. However, as that can encourage my eye lids to be quite oiley, I use the Soothing Eye Balm under my eyes, on my eyelids and brow bone instead. This helps to brighten my under eyes so i look more awake, and is really refreshing.

Finally, i like to put a thin layer of Palmers Dark Chocolate and Mint Lipbalm on my lips to keep them moisturised and hydrated – protecting them from the harsh, cold winter air.

My Current Favourite Lipsticks – February 2018.

Hey guys,

So a long time ago i did a lipstick favourities post but thought its about time I updated it. So, before i ramble too much, lets get started.

For the past few autums, ive been on the hunt for a nice autumnal lipstick. I found a few but never got on with them as they were either too vampy or i never got on with the texture. However, thats definetly not the case with my Gigi Hadid lipstick in the shade Erin. I find the formula so creamy and buttery when applying it, however it dries down a little so it develops a slightly matte finish – which I love. Also, I find the shade really complements my skintone and isnt too intense.

Moving more onto the upcoming season, I love pinks in the spring and summer time. I just think with a super natural eye and glowy skin, pink lipsticks can be paired with it to create such a fresh look. This Maybelline Colour Sensational lipstick in the shade More To Adore does just that, has a creamy formula and such a stunning satin finish.

So there is a Youtuber called Sophie Belle on Youtube, and she always has such beautiful natural makeup with a pink lip – which inspired me to get my pink lipsticks out again. I’m so glad I did, because I re-discovered my love for the Makeup Revolution Rose Gold lipstick in the shade Lust. Although this colour is very similar to the shade above it, its got a matte formula and comes across slightly in the bullet. However, despite it being a matte lipstick, its still comfortable to wear and I rarely have to touch this up.

Honestly, as much as I adore my pink and red lipsticks, the Makeup Revolution Rose gold lipstick in the shade Chauffeur is my all time favourite – cant live without – must re-purchase when finished IMMEDIATELY lipstick. This beautiful brown-pink nude shade is one that goes with everything, and is the shade I will always wear no matter what the occasion or season – and spends most of its life in my handbag. Also, I’m getting close to the bottom of this lipstick ( which is saying something, as I have never ever finished a lipstick) so have already re-purchased a new one so I don’t have to go without.

Finally, If i’m going out somewhere fancy or to a party, I love the Colour Riche lipstick in the shade Julianne’s Pure Red. I just feel like it can look so classy, and is such an simple way to bring a hint of glam into a makeup look. Although this is a matte lipstick it has such a lovely consistency – however i’d advise lining your lips first before applying this as its so easy to accidentally go out the lines with bright lipsticks.

Whats your favourite lipstick at the moment? Let me know in the comments below!

My Tattood skincare routine

Hey guys, So on this blog, I have already dipped into the idea of tattoos. I only have one so far (but would love to get more soon) but have found myself slipping into a bit of a routine, in order to keep my tattoo looking as new as possible, for as long as possible. I mean tattoos are expensive so it really does pay to take care of them. As soon as my tattoo was completely healed, I was already in a bit of a routine (wash, dry and bepanthenal it) so just had to tweek it the tiniest bit.

Firstly, as the tattoo starts at the top of my ankle, When I shave my legs every 2/3 days – I like to make sure to go over the part of my tattoo that gets stubley. That might seem like an obvious thing to do, but I just feel like the tattoo looks better when its completely hairless. (This is obviously personal preference though – you do you.)

Next, I like to exfoliate my tattoo once a week, as dead skin can make tattoos look duller than they really are. As the tattoos already healed it doesn’t matter too much which scrub you use, so I use the Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub as it smells so good.

Finally, I like to pat my tattoo dry and apply some moisturiser to it, to prevent the tattoo going all dried up. Again, I don’t think it matters what moisturiser you use, so I use the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter as it always leaves my skin feeling so smooth and pampered.

Do you guys have any tattoos? And if so, what products do you like to use to care for them?
